Information about Memphis
Memphis is located in the southwest corner in the state of Tennessee on the banks of the Mississippi River in Shelby County named after the ancient city of Memphis in Egypt. To the west across the river is the state of Arkansas and to the south is the state of Mississippi.
The area has many trees, lakes, streams, and rivers. It is also the home of FedEx. Memphis is known as the crossroads of transportation with three railroads, two major expressways crisscrossing in West Memphis, Ark., many truck lines and warehouses.

Memphis and the surrounding area offer an abundance of places to visit.
Memphis is probably best known as the home of Elvis Presley. Graceland in the southern part section of the city is open year-round where you can take a tour of where Elvis lived. The gravesite of Elvis along with his mother and father are located on the grounds of Graceland.
During the month of May each year, the city recognizes another country with many local events. The first weekend in May starts with the Beal Street Music Festival, followed by the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the Sunset Symphony all on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.
Memphis is also has many other famous music legends who have called Memphis home. Among them are W. C. Handy-"Father of the Blues", Furry Lewis, B.B. King, and Isaac Hayes.
Memphis is also home of Ardent Recording Studio that has and continues to record bands such as ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Bar-Kays and Booker T. and the MGs.
When you move to Memphis, in addition to Elvis and Graceland, you will want to visit the Memphis Zoo, Pink Palace Museum, National Civil Rights Musuem, and Beal Street for some fine dining and Blues music.
